Balkan Countries Map Quiz
10 countries · click them on the map · free, no signup
The Balkan countries quiz zooms into the corner of Europe that ruins more map-quiz streaks than anywhere else on the continent. Ten countries pack into the peninsula between the Adriatic and the Black Sea: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece. The traps are legendary. Croatia is a boomerang wrapping around Bosnia, which nearly cuts it in two. Montenegro is a thumb-sized wedge between Bosnia, Serbia, and Albania that most players click one country too late. North Macedonia hides landlocked between four neighbors, and separating Serbia from Bulgaria on a blank map is harder than it sounds. Because the quiz map is zoomed tight to the peninsula, every country is a fair click target — this tests knowledge, not eyesight. Each round names a country; click it to score a first-try point. Correct answers lock in green, misses flash red, and after two wrong clicks the quiz reveals the answer so the borders finally stick. Master this region and the rest of the Europe map quiz feels easy. Free to play, no signup, reshuffled every restart.

Balkans map quiz — FAQ
- Which countries count as Balkan in this quiz?
- Ten: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece. Definitions vary — Turkey's small European corner is sometimes included, but we cover Turkey in the Middle East quiz.
- Why is Kosovo not in the quiz?
- Kosovo is not individually mapped in the atlas data the quiz uses, so it cannot be a separate click target. Its territory appears within the map, but the ten targets are the countries the atlas draws with their own borders.
- Which Balkan countries are hardest to place?
- Montenegro and North Macedonia top the miss list — both are small and landlocked or nearly so. The Slovenia–Slovakia name mix-up and the Serbia–Bulgaria border are the other classic stumbles.
